The goal of the work performed by the Translational Division is to use the knowledge gained by the basic scientists in the CMRC to develop strategies that prevent or delay the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Current projects include the development of a high-throughput behavioral assay to test the effects of selected compounds on cognitive performance in mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease and the development of assays to measure levels of Aß*56 and other potential biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease in the cerebrospinal fluid, serum, or urine of human subjects.  The results of these studies will guide the design of prevention trials in people.
